Heritage India Festival - The only destination in the Chicagoland area that promises complete fun, games for the whole family, great food, fashion show, jewelery, indian tradational clothes and raffle prizes every hour.
Nov 4th 2007 has left behind memories of an explosive, colorful extravaganza which could compete with the best of Bollywood shows. The fun, the excitement, the nail biting moments were all to be witnessed at the most happening event in Illinois - The Sahara One India Heritage Festival organized and hosted by Desi Junction Radio team.
It was one of the most successful events creamed by the singiung & dancing competition “Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai” contest which pulled out the best talents in Chicago to compete , which proved to be a treat for the audience to watch.
The event was held at Waterford banquet which saw the warm atmosphere of India filled by the naughty noise and the hustle bustle of the country side mela atmosphere. The string of talents ranged in the groups of kids, juniors and seniors. The 'mela' included booths from all over the U.S. Saris, kurtis, real and costume jewelry, art, house wares, sporting equipment and so much more were just some of the many wares that shop owners and wholesalers brought to display. There was also an array of service booths that included airlines, travel services, banks,  satellite services and much more. And who can forget the food? Again local as well as national restaurants filled the atmosphere with the sweet and savory aromas and flavors that the sub-continent is famous for.
The entire area wore a festive look with a rainbow of Indian saris and people with traditional dresses, more than 2400 people attended the event that featured a glittering program including music and dance competition. The event started with an enduring dance which welcomed the event as it passed on the day followed by the singing & dance competition.
To keep the audience tact to their seats , the hosts Jassi, Bobby, Simi & Bhagya  played their roles to keep the audience glued to the show. As the day passed by, more bright colors occupied the stage with the little kids taking on the stage for Dance, followed by Junior and Senior dancing. This show saw such a variety of pool of talent which forced the judges in the their second thoughts to come up with the winners. The competition was judged by some reputed and well known names of Chicago like Mr. Jatinder Bedi, Ms. Rita Sing, Ms. Jyoti Mohan, Mr. Vinod Williams, Ms. Cherry Hale, Dr. Harjinder Khaira, Dr. Jasmine Singh, Ms. Navraj Basati & Ms. Shreelekha Mohanty.
The fashion show added a lot of spice to the event which saw some of  the Chicago’s professional models walking the ramp with their gorgeous outfits by Akanksha boutique.
It indeed was a great show by a great team. The city of Chicago will be waiting for such awesome events to be held in the future. The Dashing Team of Desi Junction which came on the stage at a later stage was filled with applauds for holding such a phenomenal event.
The colorfull stage backdrop, 2 large screen state of the art projector screens and Hi Fi sound system provided by Tantrix entertainment added a high-tech star in the event which is quiteevident from the feedback that the team has been receiving
“The whole event was a great fun and my parents, from Toronto, came along.  We had a terrific time.  I just wanted to encourage you guys to keep up the great work you did. The 2 large projector screens were terrific.  It would have been nice to see the performers and MCs on the screens rather than just graphics from a computer. We really loved the games played on the stage and crowd participation was terrific.  The food and the stalls were terrific. We loved the stage decorations and the performers. Great work!!  We had a great time.” said Dr. Naveed Elahi
“You all did an AMAZING job with the show and I had a wonderful time!  We kept talking about it today - all the exciting performances, the great organization of everything, and all the fun!  I loved being a judge, thank you again for providing such a great opportunity to me.  If there is ever anything that I can do to help with future functions, please let me know!. “  said one of the competition judge Cherry Mangat.
“We loved your program and we felt like it was a great family outing (even though I don't speak Hindi). But the only problem was that the little kids group dance was in the end on a Sunday night and the results were not announced until late night. May be next time you can take this into account. But overall good show. Keep it up :-) wrote Sasi Ram one of the festival attendees.
“It was a great show put together by the whole team. Next time I would also like to volunteer, please let me know ahead of time. “ said  Sonia Agarwal of Nupur Dance Academy.
Dinesh, Tina and Tanmayi  wrote “ Congratulations for successfully hosting yet another India Heritage Festival. We've attended this festival for the past three years and you all are doing a wonderful job. And this function has consistently seen improvement upon its previous years. Please convey our Kudos once again to every one involved. Special kudos to Nagesh for taking wonderful pictures as seen on your website.”
Chirag Vaswani commented:” I was at the show last night for the Singing and Dance competition 2007. I think that was a great show and I would love to be the volunteer if it suit's the time at any other of your events. Thanks for the great show. “
“I wish to thank you and your team for pulling together such a quality program.  I really enjoyed judging the competitions.  Please do consider me to be a judge again next year.  It will be my pleasure to do so. Congratulations to the organizing team. “ said  Shreelekha Mohanty  another competition Judge.
