The Singing competition will take place in 3 main categories:
Kids: (Under 9 YRS)
Juniors (Age 9 to 14)
Seniors (Age 15 and over)
The competition is open to singers of all nationalities. All performances must be solo with a Karaoke CD (No Live Musicians).
2. Application Fee: - All the participants must submit the completed application forms along with a non-refundable participation fees to Desi Junction before the preliminaries. Personal checks and money orders are acceptable. Make checks payable to Desi Junction. Application will not be processed until registration fee has been paid. Registration fees for the competition are:
Kids $50.00
Juniors $50.00
Seniors $50.00
3. Music: -
The participants can sing on karaoke CDs but it is the responsibility of the participant to bring their karaoke CDs. ALL Karaoke CDs MUST BE LABELED WITH the participants NAME, Song, and TRACK Number. Also, please have a backup CD available during the day of the competition.
4. General
The participants can sing any Bollywood Film Song.
The song should not exceed more than 4 minutes. Minimum time is 2 minutes. Any singer going overtime will be disqualified.
· Applicants are considered on a first come first serve basis.
· The song cannot be repeated in different rounds of the finals and should be sung only in Hindi – NO other regional languages will be accepted.
· Contestants are not allowed to leave the stage or stage area during their performance. This includes singing or performing within the audience.
· Contestants, their family or associates are not allowed to contact with the judges before or during the competition.
· Decisions made by Desi Junction’s Judges will be final.
Desi Junction reserves the right to reject applications that do not meet the selection criteria. The applicant will provide up to three song choices ahead of time before the contest. Desi Junction will have discretion to choose one of the three songs that the participant will dance to in the contest.
5. Preliminary Rounds: - All the participants will compete in Preliminary round, which will be conduced at least 2 weeks prior to the final competition. The participants will perform in front of panel of judges, during the preliminary rounds and predefined finalists will be selected in each category who will move on to Finals
• All performers must reach the venue at least 1 hour prior to the show and check in at the Desi Junction registration booth.
• All the participants will compete in Preliminary round, prior to the final competition.
• The participants will perform in front of panel of judges.
• In the preliminary rounds a predefined number of finalists will be selected in each category to move on to Finals.
Note: Only winners of the preliminary rounds will move to the finals.
6. Judging Criteria: - Participants will be judged on following criteria
· Song Selection – Tough songs will have more weight than simple song. · Sur & Taal– Singing should be synchronized with music and the original song.
· Pronunciation/song Lyrics – It should be pronounced correctly, song should have original lyrics. For example you cannot add your lyrics to the song.
· Voice Quality : The candidates with better voice quality will get more marks . |
